Prostate cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in men with approximately 3,500 men dying each year from the disease. It is important for men to be aware of the symptoms of Prostate cancer, which may include:
- The frequent or sudden need to urinate
- Finding it difficult to urinate
- Discomfort when urinating
- Finding blood in the urine or semen
- Pain in the lower back, upper thighs or hips
Prostate cancer is usually detected through a blood test, or Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test. However, if levels are increased, it does not necessarily mean you have cancer, it simply means that further testing is required. To confirm a diagnosis of Prostate Cancer, a biopsy is required, and a sample sent to a pathologist for confirmation.
