Everybody needs energy, but, how do we get it? Energy is sourced from the food and drink we consume daily and is measured in either calories or kilojoules (kJ). The average daily intake for an adult is 8,700kJ, however, this varies depending on the persons age, height, gender and physical activity.
Proteins, carbohydrates and fats in a meal contain energy, however, not all are equal. It is important to understand how many kilojoules you should be intaking per day. Consider the meals you prepare and the food you buy.
