Dying to Know Day, founded in 2013, is all about fostering deep conversations about the one thing all humans have in common – death.
After reading a book called “Dying to Know: Bringing Death to Life,” an Australian organisation called The Groundswell Project decided to dedicate an entire day to destigmatizing the topic of dying and educating others on how to die in a way that stays true to themselves and their wishes.
Practical applications include writing one’s will and obituary, discussing end-of-life plans with loved ones in the case of severe illness, disease, or injury, and even making funeral arrangements. In addition to end-of-life planning, Dying to Know Day is also about grief, bereavement and coping with loss.
Having the hard conversations with loved ones about preparing for the future can bring a sense of comfort and security and draw us closer together when we need it most, especially when talking about such a difficult topic.
An Advance Health Directive form can be filled out with your doctor which gives directions about your future health care. You can also use this form to appoint an attorney(s) for health matters. To arrange this please phone the practice on <link>4635 6111 and book a long appointment and bring your form with you.
