June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, a Bowel Cancer Australia initiative raising awareness of Australia's second deadliest cancer and funds for the leading community-funded charity dedicated to prevention, early diagnosis, research, quality treatment and the best care for everyone affected by bowel cancer.
It is potentially one of the most preventable cancers through the early detection of abnormalities from screening.
Red Apple Day (Wednesday, 15 June) is Bowel Cancer Australia's Annual Giving Day, when Australians are encouraged to support the vital work of the charity.
Symptoms of bowel cancer can include:
- Blood in your poo
- Obvious change in bowel habit
- Weight loss you can’t explain
- Extreme tiredness for no reason
